Ten individuals sentenced of cyber-bullying against Brigitte Macron

A court in Paris has convicted ten people for engaging in the online harassment of Brigitte Macron, the partner of the President of France, Emmanuel Macron.
The defendants faced accusations of circulating false claims regarding her gender and sexuality, in addition to posting hurtful comments about the couple's significant age difference.
The court delivered suspended prison sentences of up to eight months to the defendants. The complete verdict has yet to be released.
A persistent unfounded claim suggesting that Brigitte Macron is a transgender woman has been in circulation since her husband's rise to the presidency in 2017.
This Monday's court decision in France is concurrent with the Macrons initiating a legal action for defamation in the United States of America against political commentator Candace Owens, who has also voiced analogous false narratives about the first lady's gender.
Their legal filing alleges that Owens ignored any factual proof that refuted her assertions choosing instead to amplify the voices of notorious conspiracy peddlers.
Owens has often echoed these claims on her podcast and online platforms, and in March 2024 stated that she would stake her entire professional reputation on her belief that Mrs. Macron is biologically male.
Brigitte Macron initially encountered her future husband when she taught at his lycée.
The pair entered into matrimony in 2007, when the man who would become president was 29 and she was 54.
