Nearly 25,000 Experiencing Power in Queensland and Victoria Following Powerful Storms
Nearly 25,000 residences in south-east Queensland woke up without power on Monday morning after intense storm systems impacted the state, bringing wind gusts topping 109 kilometers per hour.
Massive Ice Stones and Broad Impact
Homeowners witnessed large ice chunks as large as 7cm in particular locations. The Bureau of Meteorology confirmed that different parts across the state had been impacted by substantial ice precipitation.

Emergency crews were working to restore energy supply throughout the impacted areas, with approximately seventy teams deployed to address the widespread outages.
Victorian Storm Challenges
At the same time, around 1,000 energy customers in Victoria also experienced energy failures after the capital city recorded its most precipitation in 18 months.
Emergency response teams handled over five hundred calls for help across the state, mostly for building damage but also for collapsed vegetation and flooding.

- Wyndham region - 179 emergency requests
At one point on the previous day, over 28,000 electricity consumers in the state were experiencing outages.
Climate Outlook
Moist weather were forecast to persist along significant areas of Queensland's east this next several days as a weather pattern continued to attract humidity against the shoreline.
The following day was forecast to be the most rainy day, with ongoing thunderstorm potential expected across different parts of both regions.
Health Warning
Medical authorities alerted that there was an increased chance of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the state's northern country region, particularly given the ongoing climate situation.
This alert comes after past events where comparable situations led to significant health impacts in the area.
